So, naturally, my halftone artwork translates very well to all kinds of print-making techniques. Here you will find limited edition runs of original prints, including screen prints, risograph prints, and block prints. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese differ from the \u003ca title=\"reproductions\" href=\"https:\/\/billtavis.com\/collections\/reproductions\"\u003ereproductions\u003c\/a\u003e I sell in many key ways:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThey are limited edition. Once the edition is sold, they will no longer be available in this form ever again. The reproductions are open edition.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThey use different kinds of ink. Risographs are known for the unique quality imparted by the soy-based inks they are required to use. A screen print or block print uses very thick ink that is firmly pressed into the paper fibers. This means a lot more color is going onto the page than if it were merely spritzed by an ink jet.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eEvery print on this page is considered an original piece in its own right. Even though some of these are based on paintings, they are not a direct reproduction. I used custom software to draw the eye in 5 colors using a specially modified pattern from the Mandelbrot set fractal (the fifth color is the white of the paper). The colors are modulated as a halftone, meaning that the lines vary in width in proportion to each other to create the illusion of differing hues and values. I took the algorithmic result of my program and hand-painted extensively on top, still only using the same 5 colors, shaping the details to look interesting and clean while also smoothing out the gradients and clarifying the edges in the overall image. It is signed with permanent marker on the front\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original painting was done on a wood cutout that fit the contour, but if I did that with a screen print on paper, it would be difficult for you to frame it. So I decided to use holographic paper. Hundreds of hours were spent carefully adjusting all of the line thicknesses to make this image.
