"Squirrel on the Kerrville River" acrylic on canvas, 2024, 48x24 inches, painted sides

A few years back I went out to Kerrville, TX to paint a mural. I originally planned to do a scene from the river trail there, which I found to be very beautiful and peaceful. The mural wound up being something different, but it stayed in my mind and I finally just painted it on canvas instead! I really enjoyed the chance to do some atmospheric perspective here, by adding appropriate amounts of gray and blue lines in to the trees in the distance. The water reflects the sky, but is also just a bit see through with the addition of brown lines. And although there are only 7 colors total, I made sure to use every single one of them on the trunk in the foreground!
