New Armadillo water tank mural engages community

Public invited to information meeting and community workshop

AUSTIN - The City’s Art in Public Places (AIPP) program and local artist Bill Tavis invite the public to a public information meeting on October 23 to learn about South Austin’s new mural on the Armadillo water tank. Meeting attendees are encouraged to give feedback to help inform the mural’s design.

Additionally, Tavis will host a community workshop to inspire ideas and themes for the new mural on October 25. Workshop participants will learn about the artist’s process and how to draw a basic halftone. Art materials will be provided at this hands-on event.

Tavis is well known for his halftone murals in Texas. He painted a 3,900 sq. ft. mural, “Wildflower Meadow,” on Austin’s Wood Hollow Drive in 2019 through the AIPP program.

Both events are free and open to the public.
